Sana Thongba (Manipuri Paneer Curry)


Ingredients

  • Paneer

  • Green peas

  • Milk

  • Water

  • 1 teaspoon nigella or kalonji

  • 1 tablespoons ground/grated ginger

  • Bay leaves

  • Turmeric powder

  • Chili powder

  • Salt

  • Oil


Recipe 

  • Cut the paneer into cubes and fry them over medium heat until they turn slightly brown.

  • Remove and lay them over kitchen tissues to drain the excess oil.

  • Fry the bay leaves and kalonji for 15/20 seconds.

  • Add ginger and fry them together for a minute in low flame.

  • Add the green peas and saute them for a couple of minutes.

  • Now add turmeric and chilli powder and cook for a minute until the raw smell of turmeric disappears.

  • Add milk, water, and salt. 

  • Increase the heat and bring them to boil.

  • Add the paneer and let it simmer until the gravy thickens.

  • Serve hot with rice.
